Welcome to the Happy Lucky Fish Club, where a kid can be a kid, or you will never grow old or something. It started a few months ago when I decided to import some Bettas. Why not right? Buy some cool Bettas and sell them to some fellow Betta enthusiasts. Off I went down the rabbit hole. I had no idea how many other people have already had this idea and are already doing it. But there is no turning back now.
I do what I want! Maybe I won't stick to Bettas, maybe I'll round up some local breeders, maybe I'll print one run of tshirts and call it a day, nobody knows not even me. How's that for a business plan?
There are some things that I do know. I do not like the current state of the art. I don't like buying sick fish and having them slowly dissapear one by one into the depths of my planted tanks. I don't like fish auctions. I don't like having to DM someone to ask the price of their fish. I don't like buying a fish only to find out shipping is double the cost of the fish. So there's my niche I quarantine my fish, what is on my site is what is for sale, upfront pricing, and flat rate shipping.
I have done some math and I am going to have to sell thousands of fish to break even but it's what I think is fair so that's what I am going with. I am providing a service that I believe is good for the hobby and good for the fish. With faith trust and pixie dust the rest will work itself out. Or it won't. That's life. I am lucky enough to have a designer for a friend, a supporting wife, and a job to pay for this experiment.
So let me know what you think and if there are fish or plants you would like to see. My coffee fueled brain is thinking about adding wild and hybrid Betta, Dario, Neocaridina shrimp, Betta Adoptions!, drop shipping from local breeders, mineralized top soil, lights, tanks, co2, the whole shebang! I've got a paypal account and a website, lets drive it til the wheels fall off or the man shuts me down!.
